Objectives The objective of the project is to improve modelling of the fuel efficiency of the vehicle fleet. By including the three newly up-dated sub-models, and adopting the new fuel consumption test cycle, the accuracy of the model should improve, leading to improvements of forecasting of the structure of the fleet as well as better forecasts of CO2 emissions from road transport. By updating the base data to 1998, the Vehicle Market Model will remain compatible with the latest version of the NationalTransport Model. Improvements to the framework and interface of the model should speed up run times allowing more efficient use of time.
Abstract An updated version of the Vehicle Market Model written in visual basic 6 so that it is compatible with Windows NT. The new model will incorporate three updated sub-models: * new car purchases; * scrappage rates; and * future technologies affecting fuel consumption. The model will be re-based from 1996 to 1998 and the model framework and interface will be improved in line with the requirements of the specification.
